Pray for a Peaceful Passing

Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all doing well. Tonight may be my last blog for a few days or a week, I hope you will come back after a few days. Today we met with Elsie's Doctor and he said he feels that Elsie's lungs and heart are not strong enough to make a full recovery. She has been in there for 38 days and cannot seem to get off the ventilator. Her heart is weak from the heart attack she had after the surgery. He talked with Elsie who is very much aware of everything and everybody around her, about where she is at and did she want to continue on. She told him no, she has in writing that she does not want to live on machines, no quality of life there. She has always been a very independent women. She told us all her wishes as well today. Tomorrow they will discontinue care and keep her comfortable. She may only last a short time. I asked her if she wanted me there and she said yes. I am putting together a bag with somethings to keep her peaceful, like music and possibly some inspirational sayings and prayers. If you have a chance tomorrow sometime I ask that you say a prayer for her as she passes on from here to heaven. Thank you all that have been so supportive. I decided to post this from the hospice webstie:

Give ear, O Eternal, to my prayer, heed my plea for mercy.
In my time of trouble I call You, for You will answer me.
When pain and fatigue are my companions, Let there be room in my heart for strength.
When days and nights are filled with darkness, Let the light of courage find its place.
Help me to endure the suffering and dissolve the fear, Renew within me the calm spirit

of trust and peace.
Take Care,
Janet
