Religious Americans: My Faith Isn't the Only Way

Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all doing well. I am doing good. Had a busy week. I have been helping Larry take care of Elsie's affairs since she passed. It has been pretty hard because she never sat down and really showed Larry where everything was. Even though he asked her too, she always said I will later. Larry never paid one bill or handled anything. Now we have to go through every single piece of paper and try to find the life insurance policies and house and car insurance and so on and so on. Please make sure someone in your life knows all their is to be known about the bills and everything. I am sure most of you do, they were old school I guess. I don't mean any disrespect towards them, but it is all being dumped on my lap and it is not fun!!! I wish she had trusted me enough to show me everything before she went in the hospital. If I could see her I would say Elsie, Elsie what am I gonna do with you, and she would laugh. Just needed to get that off my chest. I still have moments of breaking down and crying. Yesterday I was going to the food store and certain song came on, and it just comes over ya, I just sat in the parking lot and cried for a little while. I want my mom's back!! I know it is part of the grief process. I suppose it is a healthy thing to get it out. My brother Jim told me on Sunday that they listed the hurricane names for the year. Two names on the list is Josephine, my mom's name and Dolly her nickname, which I named this blog after. I said ya Jim, you can't keep a good women down,

she's probably gonna come back and kick some ass to all those who pissed her off LOL. Looking forward to tomorrow, my niece Lauren is home from California and me, Christa, my sister and Lauren and Kim are gonna get together and have lunch. They will love seeing how big and cute Briana is getting. Well gonna go for now, thanks for visiting my blog.
Take Care,
Janet :)

Religious Americans: My Faith Isn't the Only Way

ABC World News had this story on the other night, I think it shows that people are all trying to find a path to God without the rules of religion, to me that is spirituality. Take some time to read it, I think you will like it.

  1. I agree with your statement that finding a path to God can rightfully be called "Spirituality".

But from the perspective of the Judeo-Christian writings of the Bible, this practice is contrary to both the Old, and New Testaments used as its Canon.

For those who claim to be of the Judeo-Christian mindset, wouldn't it be advisable to practice what one declares as their "faith"?

If someone is trying to relate the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the need to be a Christian, shouldn't the non-believer being spoken to about this issue, take into consideration the actions of the person proselytizing, as well as their words?

No matter which belief system is trying to disseminate their information to the public, I would give it more worthiness of comparative dialogue if those folks walked and talked the mantra.

  2. Oh honey. {{hug}} The grief process...yeah. Whatever right? I am with you. Went through that with the loss of my Mimi. As painful as it is, it is.

I am glad you have other loved ones close to you at a time like this. It may not feel like a lot...but I think it means a lot. I am so happy my Mom and Dad and Aunt and Mimi's friends were there for me during it.

As far as the ABCNews link...I will look at it but wanted to say this:

I learned about my spirituality from my inside process. I try to explain to my friend who is religious the difference. Religion is an exoteric thing while Jesus, himself, preached about esoteric concepts. [The Kingdom of God is *within* for example.]

The wholly irony of the difference is that people [religions, churches]today [under the guise of EXOTERIC religious principles] invoke the name of the ESOTERIC man.

    WTF? ;)

Another little quip I like is that "Religion is people who are scared of going to hell and spirituality is for people who have already been there."

    To that I say, "Amen."

    To YOU I say Namaste.

    Love,
    Samsara

  3. First of all Samsara - what a fantastic quote ""Religion is people who are scared of going to hell and spirituality is for people who have already been there."

I am writing this from my home town of Durham. I'm performing at the Sunderland Empire theatre and I decided to go to my home city....it's the first time in my life that I have no home there - it's very strange and I'm thinking of my mother a lot.

Life has a lot of tears and it would be wonderful if she was around - not simply in spirit, but in her own physical way. But then - we all have to go through these things and I think I've put myself in the situation of visiting my home city as an outsider because I need to - tomorrow I'm going to walk along the river banks and remember.
The thing about grief is that it is the proof that you have and still can Love.
