Don't Look Back

Hi Everyone, I hope you are doing well. I am doing good. I found myself looking back a few days ago about my life, losing my mothers, looking back on decisions I made. What should I have done, what should I have not done. Then I remembered a saying that made so much sense to me. If you look in the rear view mirror for to long or you will crash. How many of us go through this, not that we want to but it is a habit. It is so easy to look back and want to change or fix the outcome. We have to surrender to the fact that life will happen no matter how we try to control it. So the next time you find yourself in this place, meditate either informally or formally and try to retrain those old tapes. "May I live in the present", "May I forgive myself for the past if needed", "May I focus on the good and not the bad memories." With each regret,or lesson ask yourself what it may have taught you, forgive, forget, and move on.
Take Care,
Janet :)

Clear Your Heart

Clear Your Heart

Hi Everyone, I hope you are doing well. Forgiveness can be a difficult emotion to give out freely for some of us. Even when we tell ourselves we will a better person in the end. Maybe using this loving kindness meditation could help you forgive in a better state. We have all been hurt by someone, past or present. Many of us carry that hurt around longer than we should. When we continue to carry this pain, anger, resentment with us, we are really hurting ourselves. It can really keep us from living in the present and moving on. When we forgive that person, we will have more room in our heart to love. Weather you chose to meditate formally or informally bring to mind that person who hurt you and the feelings that come along with that memory. When you begin to feel the anger, the pain, notice how it makes your heart feel. Not forgiving this person can constrict your heart like a Brier growing around your heart shutting out the light. Begin to say to yourself, I forgive you for whatever hurt you may have caused me, intentionally or unintentionally to the extent I am able to. As you forgive this person you will begin to feel a weight lifted off of you. Your heart will begin to clear and make more room for the light to shine in. And where there is light, there is love and that can only be a good thing.

Forgive Yourself

Hi Everyone,

Forgive Yourself
We are always so easy to forgive others but not ourselves. Forgiveness is essential to letting go of self hatred and self judgement. When we forgive ourselves, we release deeply held negative feelings and it frees us from the past. You can choose to do this meditation either in a formal meditation by sitting and taking deep breaths or informal by simply saying these phrases to yourself as you go about your day. To start this meditation of self forgiveness think of a situation for which you have not been able to forgive yourself. I know I can think of a few things, as well as all of can because we are our own worst critic. With the same kindness you would extend to a dear friend, repeat this phrase to yourself. "For any hurt I caused myself in this situation, knowingly or unknowingly, I offer myself forgiveness." You can repeat this phrase to yourself as much as you feel you need to. When you feel a gentle wave of kindness wash over you allow yourself to float in this feeling of forgiveness. If feelings of unworthiness come up, breathe gently accept these feelings, and remember the goodness in your wish to forgive yourself. When your done with this meditation, release any guilt you're holding or negative thoughts you have about yourself. Give yourself credit for doing an exercise that may have been difficult for you. Forgiveness can arise from the simple intention to be kinder to yourself, and it can soften the mental pain you may have suffered. I think the most important key in these meditations is to always view yourself and if it was your best friend or a loved one. The more we do that the more we will learn to love ourselves without hesitation. The happier we are with ourselves, the happier we will be with all that is around us.
